Why does my 4-year-old own the family car? Because my word is my bond and I told him he could have it if he helped me clean it over spring break. And let me tell you, he worked like I've never seen him work before. . . scrubbing and polishing. . . vacuuming, dusting. . . and picking out stuck bits of food from places only his little fingers could reach.
When I told Nate he asked, "So what's Isaac supposed to do with it?"
What does he do with it? That's the beauty of the whole thing. He keeps it clean. Just ask the other kids about his lectures. And. Um. Remember your suit coat? Honey? The one you had to take to the dry cleaner this morning because you found it crumpled up in the garage? Yeah. You left it in the minivan after church.
Nobody messes with Isaac's car. Nobody.
Twelve years from now he'll probably be ashamed to admit his first prized car was a minivan, but for now there ain't a cooler car on the street.

Isaac, congratulations on your new car and welcome to the minivan club! White Lightning looks pretty good thanks to your excellent cleaning skills. Mark would be proud, he thinks up keeping a car is the best thing you could learn. Don't ever lose that minivan pride. Go White Lightning!
Pretty nice car for a boy's first car! It's nice he will share it with the family (and not drive it outside of the garage). It's especially nice that he will clean it.
I love it!! Maybe if I tell Nathanael that he can have our suv he'll keep it as clean as Isaac's minivan! LOL! On second thought, he'd probably try to drive it.

Ya know, whatever keeps them happy; that's what I say. When I was a kid we use to play out in the old broken down cars, trucks, and semi's that my grandparents had around their farm. It was a blast. If Issac is anything like my Noah (and I think he is) he will spend hours "working" on that car.
