Hello 2013! The kids went back to school today after a very lazy-awesome two weeks at home. Everyone was sad. The last two weeks have felt like a real vacation with everyone home and nothing to do and nowhere to go. The kids actually had time to play with friends for the first time. . . ever. We watched The Music Man and The Sound of Music (love.) and It's a Wonderful Life. - when has our family ever just watched a movie together?? The boys have had non-stop games and chess and Axis and Allies going. Nate and I even skipped out one evening to see Le Miserables. We've been singing at the top of our lungs ever since. I'm tellin' you - Christmas vacation was heaven. Isaac cried all night last night thinking about school today and the grind ahead. And to be honest, I'm not quite sure I'm ready for a new year to begin. I feel like I'm still swimming in the aftermath of the old one. But ready or not. . . here it is! And, despite the old grind, I am eager to begin anew. We partied in the New Year this year with our traditional New Years tree and sparkling cider.
The boys pretty much took over the job of filling the balloons. They were hilarious. They wrote their own jokes, fortunes, and puzzles (that only Clayton could solve) and we were thoroughly entertained all evening.
Happy New Year!
But before my children get overwhelmed (they're already groaning) with my lists of New Year's resolutions that I've written up for each of them, here is an ode to 2012 - a list of accomplishments remembered. . . for each of them (even me). In addition to my list, the kids also set a goal for themselves. Without my input. I typed their words verbatim. And they're all great.
