Amazing things always happen when my mom comes to visit. My house stays clean and organized. Laundry is always done. My kids are happy, well-fed, and read to. My hair gets cut. Nate and I go to the temple. . . together! We go on dates. We go out for fancy cupcakes. I go shopping. . . alone. . . for clothes! We have design-your-own pancakes for dinner. We take Saturday road trips for fun. And everything-everything is better when my mom's around.
We introduced my mom to gourmet cupcakes.
Mmmmm. Nutella is my favorite.
The kids introduced her to chocolate pizza a t Double Dave's. They love this place.
And my mom treated the girls and me to lunch and the Cheesecake Factory.
She also watched the girls at the mall while I went shopping. Look at Lydia spin!
Eliza was lucky to have grandma in town for her dance recital.
And of course, at everyone's request, my mom made her famous design-your-own pancakes for dinner.
Look what a good time they are having! Dinner never looks like this when I'm cooking.
But the highlight of my mom's visit was our day trip to Sea World in San Antonio.
Lydia loved this trian ride. She sang train songs all the way.
Beautiful girl. . . in purple.
The Shamu Express was her favorite ride though. She barely squeaked on for the height requirement by standing on her toes.
The older boys enjoyed the Shamu ride just as much (although, they'd never admit it.)
Eliza's favorite ride was Journey to Atlantis, which includes a backward drop into water. These guys are standing the "drop zone" ready to get soaked! I nearly wrecked my camera here. It's like a sudden Tsunami when the boats drop.
My mom and Lydia are escaping the coming wave in the nick of time!
The boys and my mom went on the wild raft ride.
My mom was smart to wear her rain jacket. . .
because they got drenched.
Because it was so crowded we ended up sitting in the "Splash Zone" at every show. My mom is not in this picture because whe left to go get her rain coat. She's the queen of being prepared.
I was glad she shared with me and the girls. Unlike these boys, we stayed mostly dry.
The shows were amazing. Eliza loved "Baby Shamu".
But her favorite part was this hanging-dancing-bird-girl.
Brigham fell in love with Beluga Whales.
And Lydia wondered when it was time to see the mermaids.
The best part for the boys was riding the insane roller coasters at Sea World - The Steel Eel, where we almost lost Brigham right out of his seat, and The Great White, the hanging roller coaster that twists upsidedown, sideways, and backwards. I just about had a heart attack.
What a great day at Sea World with grandma.
These kids will never for get it.
