We celebrated the New Year in Orlando, Florida this year. Instead of staying up to see the fireworks though, we went to bed early so that, while all the party animals were sleeping in, we could be first into the park on New Year's Day. Our plan worked. We woke up at 6:00 a.m. (5:00 Houston time) and, while Nate and the girls got ready to go to the mermaid park, the boys and I made it to Hogwarts by 6:45 for early admission. No one was there. We went on every single ride before the park even opened. And we had the place practically all to ourselves for the next 4 hours. It was awesome. And so worth it. And that's how we rang in the New Year! Expelliarmus 2014!
Here's a look back at 2014:
Clayton: Turned 12, ordained to the priesthood, started middle school (6th grade), elected to Student Government, started band - percussion, Honor Roll, Perfect Conduct Award, Parisi Speed Program, accompanied Primary on the Primary Program, Swim Team, National Piano Guild Competition, Suzuki Ribbon Festival Competition, Gold Medal on State Music Theory Exam.
Goal: study the scriptures every night and start learning the organ.
Isaac: Turned 10, Name That Book Club, Swim Team, Baseball Camp, Parisi Speed Program, Wright Brothers research project and P.P.P. (personal plane pack) invention, Straight A average for 3rd grade, Suzuki Ribbon Festival, Gold medal on State Music Theory Exam.
Goal: learn more hymns on the piano and memorize scriptures.
Brigham: Turned 8, Baptized, National Piano Guild Competition, Suzuki Ribbon Festival Competition, HMTA Advanced Piano Competition (silver medal!) Gold medal on State Music Theory Exam, Swim Team, Baseball Team, Baseball Camp, Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance Award, Bartok Research Project, Salt Lake City Research Project, Piano Solo in Sacrament Meeting.
Goal: read more, write a book, learn more hymns, and not be last.
Eliza: Turned 5, ballet and tap class, gymnastics, swimming lessons, violin lessons, started piano lessons (performed at her first piano recital), Swim Team, started pre-K, violin duet on the Primary Program.
Goal: practice violin and piano everyday.
Lydia: Turned 3, potty trained, started gymnastics, started swimming lessons, started Montessori preschool.
Goal: learn how to read.
So bring it on 2015! It's going to be another great year!

That made me tired just reading what you (and your kids) accomplished last year. I don't know how you do it.
Also, how awesome to have the park all to yourselves for 4 hours. That was some good planning on your part!
