For years this is pretty much how we got around. I hauled this thing everywhere!
But this morning I realized, as our family piled into the car for an outing downtown, that my stroller babies are all grown up. I don't even own a double stroller anymore. And I didn't pack an extra huge two bags of diapers-snacks-bottles-toys-clothes either. Or a break-your-back 40-pound baby carrier. I didn't have to think, pack, or plan ahead for feeding times or naps. We just went. On a whim. Free from all that extra gear.Ah, the simple life. . . finally.
This morning also reminded me of our many other ventures out and around Houston. So I've decided to take you on a bag-less, stroller-less picture-tour of our town. (at least what we've seen) So buckle up and enjoy!
H-TOWN
I don't know much about Sam Houston. (I don't even know if this is him) Except that when Brigham Young was being hassled by the rest of the United States, Sam Houston was nice and even invited the Mormons to settle in Texas.
This is where Nate works.
THE SPACE CENTER
The NASA Space Center was the number one anticipated visit before we moved to Houston and it didn't disapoint (at least not my space-crazed boys). Nate seriously had more fun than the kids in this gigantic play-of-a-maze. "This place is SO awesome!"(that's a direct quote)

PARKS
My kids give these ugly ducks a run for their money.
This park also has a doggy drinking fountain that Briggs loves to play in (drink from).
Houston is culturally rich like Chicago and New York but on a smaller scale. It's still possible to live a semi-suburban lifestyle close to downtown. I love it. But despite the great parks and museums that we frequent, I have to admit that our best adventures still always take place right at home.

Man, your kids are so lucky to have parents who take the time and the money to go out and do such fun (and educational) stuff. It looks like you guys are as adventurous as ever! I miss you!

It is strange to remember that there are cities with clean and child friendly parks. Wow.
Wow! I didn't realize you are in Houston. I spent lots of time there with my mom at MD Anderson.I didn't get to see all of the fun places. Looks like you are having a blast. I miss the good old days at the Dallas Arboretum. :) Happy Belated Birthday!

I really miss Houston now! I just read a tribute to our time in Houston by a friend and now looking at your pics, I could cry. We LOVE Houston. We love the Zoo, Hermann Park, the children's museum, the many 5th grade field trips to the Space Center, and the weather! Thanks for taking me back to my happy place (and out of the -degree weather) for a minute. I must show Scott now!
