Halloween Events: 3 down. 2 to go. By the time Halloween actually rolls around I'm pretty sure we'll be all Halloweened out! Here are a few pictures from the party on our street and a sneak peek at our costume theme this year: American West Heroes (inspired by all our drives past the Alamo, our recent trip West to pioneer country and the mormon battalion center, and these books.)

So here they are (among fairy princesses, ninjas, ladybugs, stormtroopers, and Cleopatra). Meet Clayton Crocket, Isaac Boone, and Buffalo Brig.

Eliza didn't wear her costume to this party (since she was napping for most of it). But stay tuned for the cutest cowgirl boots in the history of the wild west when she makes her blog debut as Eliza Oakley.

Buffalo Brig was a favorite with the ladies. . .

probably because he forgot his pistol (i.e. he left it at home just like I advised) and didn't stampede (obnoxiously) around the girls, hootin' and hollerin' and firin' ammunition like the other boys.

Isaac Boone (like a true cowboy - never leaving home without it) remembered his hunting rifle (i.e. he brought it anyway even though I told him not to) making him the most popular among the boys.

Clayton Crockett (figuring it's not the Alamo) willingly left his at home. He didn't want a cumbersome rifle getting in the way of his cake-eating and superb game-directing.

like Isaac's favorite: The Candy Corn Relay Race.

I love Halloween. It's a total kid-holiday. I love our neighbors too. I'm glad they still invite us to stuff - even if my boys (and their rifles) will inevitably crash the princess party.

In other Halloween news: Here's Brig wearing his spider hat and showing off the HUGE apple we found at the grocery store. It was a meal all by itself.

And Eliza with her spell-binding eyes. . .

.
Happy Halloween so far!
(may we all survive the rest of the week. . .)

I enjoy your costumes, every year. Classy, timeless, and fun!! Can't wait to see Eliza's!
I hear ya! We are on Halloween party number two today, three tomorrow, and finally four on Saturday. Whew, who knew Halloween was a week long event? On well, it does make the costumes a little more worthwhile when you wear them more than once.
