Brigham's Baptism

Brigham's baptism was the highlight of the summer.  Aw, look how handsome he is! It was so nice to be in Oakley with family and friends for this special day. Brigham is an amazing kid - talented, smart, funny, and fast!  I loved reading and finishing the Book of Mormon with him in preparation for his baptism and have so many wonderful memories snuggled up together with the scriptures - I love his insights, questions, and conversations about the Book of Mormon. So glad he's in our family!

Brigham picked Ether 12:4 as his scripture for his baptism picture. 

"Wherefore whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."

He really liked the word steadfast in that scripture.

Aunt Jackie spoke about baptism.  My dad spoke about the Holy Ghost.  Nate gave a talk about what it means to be a member of the church.  I gave a special spotlight on Brigham.  And Brigham himself played the piano accompaniment for his favorite hymn, "Choose the Right".

We were so lucky to have relatives show up from everywhere - Las Vegas, Idaho, and all over Utah.  Look at us! 

After the baptism, we headed to the ranch for food and celebration! Hats off to my mom for putting together all the food and throwing the party.  Our family pulled into town late the night before. After our long drive from Houston, it was nice to have everything already prepared and arranged.  Love you, mom!! 

 The kids helped make and decorate milk-free cupcakes.

Nate's aunt Jackie and her friend Barbara enjoyed the ranch.  We were so glad they could stay for a short visit!

My dad thrilled and entertained the kids with his collection of authentic swords. He taught them about putting on the "Armor of God" and then let them take turns with the Sword of the Spirit - which is the word of God.

Which of course called for a photo shoot.

"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, agains spiritual wickedness. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the chield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
