Rule #1 - Easter egg dyeing is not recommended for children under 5. Please read box labels before you begin.
Rule #2 - Use the little egg dipper that comes in the box. Because, yes. That's real dye.
Rule #3 - Don't hide Easter Eggs in the bookshelf because they'll start to smell after awhile. Eggs need to be refrigerated even if your resident Easter Bunny disagrees.
Rule #4 - Let it be known that even hard-boiled eggs will break when dropped, thrown, juggled, or balanced on your nose.

we skipped the egg dyeing this year. Does that make me a bad mom??
I'm going to skip it from now on - at least until ALL my kids are the recommended age.
Great post. I never did this growing up, so Melissa let me do it with the grandkids last year. It was fun times.
Geez, I'm surprised your genius kids had any issues. I mean did you see the silk-dyed ones Tyler did- posted on my blog? He prefers that method; more artistic liberties.
Hahaha! That's why I did *my* eggs while the kid was sleeping, lol. I won't even attempt egg-dying with my kids until they are all over the age of 12.
Did you learn all those rules from experience? I agree that dyeing eggs is quite a hassle with small children, but I have found that many things I do for my kids are quite a lot of work for me. I love your blog. The pics are always great and your stories are even better. I can hear you in my head telling them to me as I read. I am so glad that you take the time to do this!
Laughter about the "genius kids" having issues. . . I LOVED your silk-dyed eggs, by the way.
And sadly, yes. I learn most of my "what NOT to do" lessons by experience - one of the perks of being a parent, I guess.
