Pirates, Parties, Pancakes, Performances. . .

.
and other random cuteness.

Pirates:
My mom and Isaac were so cute and hilarious shooting cannon balls, keeping a look out for enemy attacks, and sinking each other's ships in their epic battle to rule the backyard sea.

Parties:
Briggy had his first cupcake! EVER. At a birthday party for a friend. Can you believe these bright red. . . uh, things?. . . had NO MILK? It said "butter frosting" on the label but the list of ingredients contained no such thing. Aw, just look at that face. . .
Sometimes I'm so thankful for fake food products.

Pancakes:
It's a teddy bear. Isn't it cute? My mom saved the day again with her tradition of creating pancakes in any shape the children request. She's become an expert Chitty Bang Bang pancake designer.

Performances:
Last week for the "Family Night Musical Performance" Clayton and Isaac performed a first-time-ever piano and singing duet. Their rendition of Twinkle Twinkle - with their "ring master" style of announcing. And Clayton, at the piano, coaching Isaac over his shoulder: "Now sing up an octave! That's good. . . Faster! Now sing back down in your regular voice. . .". And Isaac, with his multi-faceted vocal range, superbly obliging - was worthy of an Oscar.

If only it had been recorded.

So this week (lesson learned) we DID capture the Musical Performance by Brigham. He didn't sing the Primary song he practiced, but rather surprised us with this Gladys Knight favorite. So enjoy Briggy in all his cuteness!

Well, I'm still recovering from the reality shock of my mom leaving. What? The dishes don't clean themselves? And the clothes don't magically appear washed, dried, folded, and neatly put away? And our boxes of books don't mysteriously unpack and arrange while I take a nap? And what's this? I have to bring my children WITH me to my meetings and doctors appointments? I miss you, mom. Not just your magical cleaning and top-notch childcare - but your inspiring and fantastic company. The boys miss your pirate cannon balls, picture pancakes on demand, spontaneous baseball catching, fencing, and chivalry training. We can't wait to see you again in a month. In the meantime, I hope you are practicing for your next duel. Because thanks to your training, Brigham has become quite the swordsman. . .
"On Guard!"

Oh my gosh that video of Brigham just made my day- so cute!! Miss you guys! I think I need to plan a trip to Texas- maybe Thanksgiving or something if you guys will be around? I would come during my break between semesters, but that's before the baby arrives and that just won't do!

YES!!!! You MUST come visit, Becca! How about before AND after the baby arrives. . . :)
Thanksgiving would be great though - the weather is perfect then and I'm sure the boys would love showing you around town.

Wow! What a showman! Brigham could come perform here in Vegas. He could also join the Gladys Knight choir here (she lives here in Vegas and has a great choral group that performed in our chapel while I was Bishop).

I love your mother - and here is yet another reason - that pirate picture! So inspired to be a more playful mother. Thanks.
